We are a Skills Service Organisation (SSO). We receive funding from the Commonwealth Government. We provide support to Industry Reference Committees (IRCs).
IRCs work with industry to ensure skills and qualifications reflect existing and emerging workforce development needs.
SSOs are accountable for providing technical, operational and secretariat services to IRCs to enable them to undertake their industry engagement and training package development and review activities.
We provide support services to the following IRCs:
- Construction, Plumbing and Services
- Property Services
We support these IRCs to perform the following functions:
- gather information and provide research on industry trends, gaps and opportunities, and regulatory compliance requirements
- develop Industry Skills Forecasts
- develop briefing papers, cases for change, and case for endorsements for our industry projects
- develop and maintain qualification and training products as part of our ongoing product development cycle and quality improvement processes.
The Australian Vocational Education and Training (VET) system aims to provide individuals with work-ready skills for the labour market, skills that businesses and industries need in order to be highly productive and internationally competitive.
Supporting the national VET system, Training Packages specify the skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the workplace through units of competency. Training Packages also describe how these units can be packaged into nationally recognised qualifications aligned to the Australian Qualifications Framework and industry recognised Skill Sets.
