Project: Completion Services - Solid Plastering
The Australian Industry Skills Committee approved the updated Certificate III in Solid Plastering at its meeting on February 25th.
This approval requires the removal of CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry as a core unit, and is dependent on core units included in other construction projects being approved.
What happens next
The Construction Industry Reference Committee (IRC) will be working with stakeholders to resolve the matters raised by the Australian Industry Skills Committee in order to action implementation of Release 5 of the CPC Training Package as soon as possible.
Release 5 will then be forwarded to the COAG Industry and Skills Council for final endorsement. The approved components will be published on the National Register and companion volumes will be published on VETNet.
The timeframe for this resolution is presently unknown.
Units within this qualification have been updated to address new technologies and techniques, regulatory and licensing requirements in all jurisdictions, and the requirements of the National Construction Code.
Minor changes to the structure of the qualification have been made. The current qualification, CPC31011, requires the completion of 15 core and 5 elective units. The updated qualification, CPC31020, will require the completion of 16 core and 5 elective units.
- CPCCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry has been added as a core unit.
- CPCCSP3003 Apply trowelled texture coat finishes has been added as a core unit (formerly an elective).
- CPCCPB3012A Cut and fix paper-faced cornices has been removed from the qualification.
